I recently purchased an item on Amazon. I was happy with the price and the item when it arrived.
However inside the box was a voucher and it said, if I left a 5 star feedback, they would refund me £20.
Is this not bribery? i.e. is this item overpriced by £20 and then being bribed by the overcharge to leave positive feedback?
is this allowed?

- No it’s not allowed at all
- I could also be a ploy that you leave the positive and no refund follows.
It’s very very sneaky.

I have done as I was not going to lose £20 and they did refund, so it was genuine, but feel a little ripped off in order to give them feedback. It kind of makes feedback untrustworthy

If you were happy to pay £25 in the first place then I don’t see the issue?
Businesses aim to maximise profits so if they can afford such good margins then good for them.
The way I see it, you were happy to pay £25, you got the item, were happy with it (as i presume you would have said if otherwise) and you got most of your money refunded!!! I think I might give them a good review

no , you should report this to amazon

They are not overcharging you. They are engaging in feedback/review manipulation and if Amazon chose to act on it they would have reason to close thier account.

Not saying it;s ethical but amazon charge sellers for reviews now as an option, maybe the seller thought it was a cheaper way, As long as genuine and your happy with the product and get £20 back it win win. Of course amazon may or may not be happy with such a practice.

If you do that a few times do not be surprised when Amazon bans you till 3000 AD

It is not uncommon as i have had several purchases last year on high price items offering money back etc if I leave good feedback and email them to confirm and they will send vouchers etc.
Take the money and run or report to Amazon or do both if you like!
Yes agree it is buying feedback and Amazon is against it.

Man! there are some small minded, petty “it’s all about MY feelings” people around. You can certainly tell it’s winter! Get on with your lives (businesses) and maybe - just maybe the world will continue spinning. And all will be well.

report listing to amazon, include a image of the card you received in the box, this is unethical and against amazons terms of service
