Returns Blatant Lies

It drives me crazy, That A customer can use an excuse of an item arriving late for a return reason.

Its not the point of the money, Its the point of the blatant lies that the customers use and get away with.

Customer ordered on Dec 5th, Shipped on Dec 6th. Scheduled delivery Thu, Dec 14, 2023 to Fri, Dec 15, 2023 arrived on Monday December 11th. ( today)

Process a return, ARRIVED LATE !!! REALLY. Again its not the point of the money or allowing a return its the flat out lies from the customers, that Amazon Allows,

When you receive the item back, you can file a safety claim for any postage expenses, if you used Buy Postage through Amazon. If the item is not in the same condition in which was sent, then you can withhold a restocking fee.

Since you really can't deny returns, it is almost useless for Amazon to make them pick a reason (other than of course if they just change their mind, then they should pay return shipping).

Did you receive the item back yet? If you receive the exact item sealed and everything back, then consider yourself lucky. We've gotten so many of these "arrived late" returns just to find empty item, contents missing, clearly used item, or even something that's completely different being sent back to us. The only recourse is for you to open a case with Amazon, and pray they'll reimburse the money. Every year it's getting worse and worse.

File the safe-t claim like others mentioned but customers may not just be lying. I have had MANY orders this year where customers think they are buying prime when ordering my products when we are not registered at all with the prime program. So, customers think they get next day delivery or free shipping and we have to explain to every one of them that we are not prime, how to identify prime items, etc. Amazon really needs to do better education for prime members (but they won't)

These these are given to make it a seller faulted reason when it should not be and then we have to waste our time with safety claims it takes time to do each one and sometimes you have to go back to them 29 minutes spent to get $5 back.

They should allow you to contact the customer and then you process your own return not have it auto refunded and have you take a loss as we do fir most every return.

Hi @Seller_EVIhpms5t4bMV,

Thank you for sharing this experience on the forums. I can understand the frustration that you and other sellers have about this. Although, we encourage our customers to abide by their own set of community policies we understand that sometimes mistakes happen on their end.

As your fellow sellers stated, I would suggest filing a Safe-T claim and providing proof of on time shipping and delivery. You can learn more about the process at this help page.

Additionally, your sentiments on this issue are being noted and will be shared with the returns team.

I often follow up with customers and they do not reply. I provide screenshots of the order and ship/deliver by dates. Many customers return parts saying they are defective and I request more information with no response. We wish there was a way to report buyers for lying but we all know that won't happen. Amazon does not care. It's really detrimental when customers select expedited shipping and that somehow gets refunded because customers select certain reason codes. I as a consumer could not consciously lie.

Completely agree. I don't understand why Amazon's system would even allow a customer to choose Arrived late if it was not. If I use Amazon's shipping label service, they see the tracking, the date I print the label, the tracking showing when it was shipped and delivered and the date Amazon stated it should arrive. So if it arrives within such time frame or earlier why would Amazon's system even allow Arrived late as an option! They automate everything else, seems like a simple one for them to fix! If it is delivered before or within the time frame, remove the option for arrived late. Doesn't take a genius.

this..

safe-t claims pay back such a small fraction of the loss.. its like hey look $50 item completely trashed, file safe-t claim, here's $5 now sit down and be quite seller..

and better not through away the return package before you process your returns or nothing.. because that label proves something to them that the item doesn't.

So, we had a return like this that arrived early. We questioned it and were told that the customer can use this reason if it does not arrive by the date that they needed it for. Our buyer was going out of town and wanted it before she left. It arrived early, but not by her plans, I guess.

My point is that this return reason can be twisted into anything that anyone wants. And it's allowed.
