French Fulfilment Center refusing Dutch EORI?!
Has anybody else had issues with French Warehouses, or an EORI from ‘the wrong country’. We’ve had horrific problems with Parcelforce / GLS, they’re now apparently saying that the Amazon French Fulfilment Center will categorically only accept consignments with a French EORI Number.
We have delivered multiple consignments to this exact Fulfilment Center without issue. We got a Dutch EORI as they were all apparently universal and OK to use in any EU Country.
Has anybody else had either of these issues? Hair has been torn out already, help appreciated…

I believe the advice was always to obtain the EORI from the country to which you are sending the stock. I think due to the country asking for the address of your “warehouse/storage centre” in their country. This EORI is then ok throughout EU.

France is accepting all our shipments with a German EORI number. You’re only allowed to have one EU EORI number. They do check it though. Have you run it through Europa to check it’s valid?
We got a German EORI and it took a couple of weeks before Europa recognised it.

We’ve finally got a smooth flow of stock into France with UPS / World Options. Sending 10 boxes at a time gets the price down to £14.73 per 15kg box.

Hi Mr_M
I’ve used Parcelforce / GLS with a Dutch EORI - two small parcels have worked fine for me, have another two en route but so far it seems better than UPS German route

We are currently paying VAT Global to make monthly returns to all the EU tax authorities for zero sales.
Need to make a decision as to stop in EU or keep paying each month in hope

Hi, same issue here today. I have a GB EORI number but it’s no good as of 1st May. By the looks of it I need an EU EORI number and then we’re OK. Any ideas on how to get one other than setting up an office in NL…
Without the EU EORI number I’m going to have to pay to have the goods sent back and pay another lot of VAT and import duty which is crackers…!
help!

Avask are something like £4k per year for all Pan EU Countries (total). Certainly more than Avalara, but less than people like Meridian beforehand.
I just think that with more potential pitfalls etc post Brexit it’ll pay to have a company who’s potentially more proactive, and actually on hand if there are any issues.
Contact so far has been very good.

I’ll need to check as I think it’s gone up but it was originally stated at £400 per country for a VAT return. It’s all done through Amazon and the first year is free s is the application ( I think).
We don’t have a huge market in the UE (yet…) but want to change that. Pulling out until the Brexit dust has cleared might be a plan. There are lots of awful stories from small businesses having stock stranded in the EU.
If I spent 4k on advertising in the USA I’d get a better return than the current sales in the EU>
I’m now liaising with a firm in Ireland - I’ll let you know of the outcome.

Thanks to both of you.
I think that as soon as OSS is implemented, we’ll evaluate our whole Pan EU policy.
In theory, the whole compliance issue will be streamlined and as such more affordable. If so, then we’ll look to use a new provider, one that will treat us like customers and offer us guidance and support when needed. It may well be a provider within the eurozone, don’t really care to be honest. Just need to get a satisfactory provider in place.

Did your Parcelforce / GLS parcels that were held up because of the Dutch EORI going to France get through in the end?
I did a couple of experiments which got through fine, but then the next 10 parcels have been sitting in France for over a month now. All with NL EORI’s
Stock in Europe has all but disappeared and the restock level is taking into account all the stock in transit, so we can’t send any more.
Gone from shifting about 3000 units a month last year to 30 units.
Debating whether to recall all parcels that Parcelforce / GLS are holding and start from scratch with DHL or Fedex - which is working best?
