FBM is hurting my sales.

Dear Fellows.

i and other FBA sellers were getting good sales on popular shampo listings. than comes the FBM seller. he is taking all the sales on proce of 7.99£. this price is not possible for FBA seller as it gives only 2p in profit. its second month and its getting upsetting now. FBM seller is taking all bu box. rest of us are just watching the sales down. i reduced my asin price for 8.99£ but even than amazon is not giving me bu box.i heard Amazon is all about Prime.aka FBA.

SUGGESTIONS PLZ.

THANKS

This is business.

If you can't compete based on what Amazon are charging for FBA, then try and compete by offering your product as FBM. Many of my products are not cost effective with FBA so they are only sold as FBM.

If you are still not making a profit, review your buying cost of the product and your postage cost.

Maybe the FBM seller is obtaining the goods from non-approved sources, or parallel imports or they are fake? Have you done a test purchase?

Just some suggestions.

Do FBM yourself? Using FBA no longer forms part of the algorithm as to who gets the featured offer.

At least they're hopefully selling on the correct listing and not selling on either incorrect generic listings or wrongly branded listings...

A lot of sellers would complain that is even more unfair.

You don't know their profit level. They may buy cheaper than you and you don't know how much they pay for their postage.

It is part of selling on Amazon that you will get competition from time to time and that an ASIN will stop selling. Best way to combat this is to have a diverse product range, so that if a particular ASIN stops selling then it doesn't compromise your business.

Problem is the FBA OP wont want to do all the graft that the FBM seller has to do.

If the FBM seller is making a profit they are happy with at that price they won't be going anywhere, so you'll need to make some adjustments. Options include:

Renegotiate your purchase price from your supplier (or find different supplier).

Offer FBM yourself (if you can e.g. are in the same country and have the facility).

Sell off your remaining stock at cost and concentrate on different products that offer the margin you require.

No seller is entitled to the buy box, customers should be shown the best deal available to them, as a buyer you would expect the same. If that changes to an FBM seller and leaves an FBA seller with 1000's of units costing them FBA storage fees Amazon still wins.

In 8 years on trading on amazon I have never bothered to use FBA, The cost and their communication with the sellers has always been poor, not worth the extra headache .

for me.. FBM actually costs more than FBA

Hilarious thread, basically complaining that someone is a better seller than you.
