Royal Mail Sorting Offices Opening Hours changing to 8-10am only
The manager of our local sorting office confirmed today that the customer service desk will only be open from 8am to 10am Monday - Friday (not sure about weekend hours)
She said it will be a national rollout from next week.
Any company that drops their mail off will be affected, so if you are SFP you won’t be able to dispatch the same day unless your mail is collected by the postie
Please check at your local office, but I was told it was going to be national

sorting office customer service desks are usually only open these hours anyway (or until lunchtime anyway) as thats when customers can collect their packages and the morning shift leave
the afternoon shift - the ones who collect the packages are usually ‘around the back’ of the depots where all the yorks are etc and if you don’t have a collection or drop at a PO, you should be able to organise with the depot manager just to walk your packages around the back
I know mine are there from about 3pm each day and if for any reason i did miss my collection, i can just pop around there after 3

We always used to drop our bags round the back, but it was banned a few months back.
I got into a big argument with revenue protection about it, because the manifests had to be scanned. but ‘health and safety’
It’s a major headache for us

Check with local post offices, I know of at least 2 near me that will take PPI bags, as well as a special postbox that can be used for non account tracked mail.

We have about 25 bags, and are about £2000 short of ‘free collection’ (we only post twice a week)

I’m just shy of free business collections as well, however I opt to pay for mine.
The fact that parking at my sorting office alone would cost me about £20 a month and collections are only about £70 a month, we are more than happy to not have the hassle of dragging bags down to the sorting office each day, without even taking in the cost of my time to do it and the petrol to drive there and back.
Also you could maybe sell more if you offered faster dispatch to your customers and posted every day instead of just twice.
if you are dragging 50 bags a week surely its not hard to add on about £20 to those, what is presumably, 100’s of orders to make your life easier
