My Account has been deactivated due to Vat Registration issues
I am wondering if anyone else has had an issue like mine.
I sell on Amazon.com (USA) and have a strong account and great sales from that platform.
Last year I opened an account on Amazon UK. Big mistake!
Sales were fine until mid-August when my account was suddenly deactivated. I never received any prior warning.
My account was deactivated as I needed to apply for VAT in the UK. To do this I need to open a business in the UK. This is not possible as I am not resident in the UK.
I then asked seller support to close my account and move my inventory to an address in the UK.
Never heard a word after that. Once your account is deactivated, Amazon does not respond to any Seller Support request unless you want to submit documents (in my case UK Vat documents) and all the messages I have sent them go unanswered.
At this stage I cannot create a removal order as the Qty amounts are greyed out. Really frustrating and not sure how to go about contacting anyone for assistance.
Anyone have any ideas?
Regards,
Steve.

Unfortunately, you should have researched the tax and other implications of trying to sell in a different country before you opened an account, and not to have sent any stock to the UK before you had fully understood and complied with the legal requirements. It is not Amazon’s responsibility to teach you that
They will not close a suspended or deactivated account. You will have to get it reactivated (by registering for VAT) and then put in a removal order to an address in the UK from which you could arrange their return to you in the US

The issue I now have is that it is not possible to register for Vat unless I open the business in the UK.
Without being a UK resident, that is not possible.
Looks like this account will remain deactivated indefinitely.

Of course it’s possible. What makes you think it isn’t?

As others have told you, it is perfectly possible to open a business in the UK without being resident here. Whether it is worth the cost and paperwork is a decision only you can make
But I still don’t understand your thought processes. You believe you can’t run a business in the UK without being resident here but you decided to start selling (and storing) goods in the UK - which is running a business

Many thanks for this link. I have started the business registration process from this document.
Appreciate your help.
Thank you.
