Submit VAT Number

Hi,

I received an email this morning from amazon that my account is at risk of deactivation as the invoice defect rate is high.

I am UK based seller living in UK and my account has reached the threshold of £85k sales recently my accountant have applied for VAT number already however HMRC says it can take up to 1 month for VAT number to be issued and without that I cant generate invoices for business customer.

I have just spoken to account health support team and have explained them same and they have said that I need to submit VAT as soon as possible.

Now my question is what if HMRC takes a month to issue me VAT number and amazon deactivates my account is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? Its been 2 weeks already since my accountant has applied for VAT but still waiting.

Regards

So you have to wait until you get the VAT number and apply it.
In the meantime, if anyone requests an invoice, or you have any business buyers, you will need to upload invoices manually.

It usually is fairly quick getting a VAT number, so it’s unlikely that you will get deactivated.

Hi again,

I have now VAT number sent from HMRC however every time I go on HRMC vat checker online it says invalid and because of that amazon is rejecting it, myself and my accountant have called HMRC few times they have confirmed its a valid VAT number but they are seeing the same issue that their website says invalid VAT number, HMRC has raised this internally to get it resolved but they don’t know how long it will take to resolve it.

Any suggestion on how I can enter my VAT number on amazon? Should I ask SS to enter it manually in backend as HMRC has confirmed its valid VAT number.

Regards
