Customer needs to pay Import duties, even though IOSS has been used
I sold an item to a customer in Belgium, he paid 21% VAT and i was provided an IOSS number, this linked to my Click and drop account and i dispatched the item with the customs form showing the IOSS symbol.
But his customs are asking him to pay VAT and fees ? what should i do ?

If the IOSS was only in the address field and you didn’t have an IOSS logo on your label then it’s possible it wasn’t transferred electronically
I’d ask them if they can contact the postal service in Belgium to see if they can waive the fee providing details of their order and see what happens
I would also stop selling to the EU until your certain it’s setup correctly or this may keep happening

Did you use a IOSS verified click and drop code ?

As far as i can tell Belgium customs couldn’t find their own backsides with two hands and a mirror.
I’ve got a DDP shipment in dispute at the moment despite being correctly documented where they are asking the customer for payment of VAT.

Same as you I’ve just had a few German and Belgium customers saying they were asked to pay import charges on low value (5EUR) orders dated 29th June (pre IOSS) it clearly says 29th June on the cn22 and on any electronic data Ridiculous, they are going to make possibly millions from that
I’ve also had huge problems with UPS into Germany

I spoke to Royal Mail just now and she said if you use IG1, MT1 then IOSS will not support this so they advised to use code DE4 for Parcel & DG4 for Large Letter for standard service and if you want to send with Tracking then use MP7 for Parcel & MTK for L Letter which will support IOSS number.
She also said this code is available in all Click & Drop account but just you have to activate by going to setting then click on shipping service.
I hope this will be useful for you.
