Dear Seller, We think you selected the incorrect legal entity
Hi All,
Registered as a sole trader with the HRMC just wondering what exactly I need before I submit this to save the hassle of being banished for a while and getting it wrong.
Cheers
Dear Seller,
We think you selected the incorrect legal entity when you registered for a Selling on Amazon account.
You are currently registered as an "Individual" seller, but your selling activity fits the criteria for a business/UK Sole Proprietor. We have explained the different legal entities below.
What happens if I do not update the requested information?
If you do not update the requested information within 60 days from the date we first reached out, your ability to sell Amazon UK and Amazon European stores may be impacted.
How do I update this information?
To update your legal entity, complete the following steps:
- Go to the "Settings" section of Seller Central:
https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/hz/sc/account-information
-
Click "Account Info" from the drop-down menu.
-
In the "Business Information" section, click the "Identity Information" link.
-
In the "Business and Contact Information" section, click "Expand".
-
In the "Business and Contact information" section, click "Edit information" and select the relevant legal entity.
-
Confirm the business details and click "Submit".
Use the following information to select the correct legal entity:
– Individual: You must only choose this legal entity if you do not sell for profit. Individual sellers may list unwanted personal items, such as old DVDs or books.
– UK Sole Proprietor: This legal entity is for any commercial individual who sells for profit. A Sole Proprietorship is registered with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC). There is no legal distinction between the owner and the business.
– State-owned: A business that is either wholly or partially owned and operated by a government.
– Publicly-listed: A business with shares listed on a stock exchange for public trading.
– Privately-owned (such as Limited, Partnership, International Sole Proprietor): A business controlled and operated by private individuals.
– Charity: Incorporated or non-incorporated tax-exempt body.
If you think your selling activity fits the "Individual" legal entity, reply to this email to confirm the source of your inventory over the last 12 months.

Generally a letter from HMRC confirming your UTR number is enough. It would need to be recent though - i think they like within the last 3 months.
