Similar Item listed - How to sell

Hi All,

Super excited to be listing my first product its taken me a while - bought the stock a few years ago but Covid and delay in setting up with AMZ together with the it being seasonal.

I can see a fair few other providers have essentially bought the same product and put their branding on it - whilst mine does not have any branding - should I list this as its own product as its technically the same as some of the others but its really not due to the branding and what they have called it?

It is a cooling mat if that helps.

Thanks,

D

A couple of sellers in my category’s do that, use there own brand to sell the same product as I sell .
I am not sure how that works, if it has the original brands logo on the product .
I certainly would not sell it with my own brand name ,if the brand did not belong to me .
I honestly don’t think it’s even legal ( I could be wrong ) .

Did you buy it from a UK supplier and its branded already - with a barcode ?
Or is this imported from China?

Does it have a barcode ?
If not you will either have to apply for GTIN exemption or purchase barcodes from GS1 (and not any other barcode provider - Amazon only accept ones from GS1)

Apropos of nothing, what this and similar threads have taught me is that most ‘brands’ on Amazon are simply meaningless labels stuck on generic Chinese imports.
It is fast becomng farcical.

You might need to be a bit wary of listing something that you bought 2 years ago as your first product. If Amazon ask you for proof of where you bought the goods, I’m pretty sure any invoices that you provide have to be less than 365 days old.

I would suggest selling other items first, as if Amz try to verify your invoices, they are too old.

I’d also not start with FBA, as all your goods could be destroyed if you get it wrong.

Ensure you are registered as others have said, triple check it with Amz, in writing.

If any issues stick with the other sites for this item, Amz are far stricter, you need authority from the maker, proof bought them in the last year trade from the maker, and if not, they could remove you from selling ever again for all products. Be careful… do your homework
