Urgent: FBA Listing Keeps Switching to FBM – Risking $40k Inventory Loss and Missing Q4
We’ve been experiencing this technical issue since last October with our bath rug listings, and it’s severely impacting our business. Initially, our 1,000-unit inventory across two listings was switched from FBA to FBM without explanation. Despite repeatedly contacting customer service and technical support, they advised us each time to reset the listings, which temporarily restores FBA but then reverts back to FBM.
This loop has been ongoing for three months now with no resolution. Every time we reset the listings, we lose the listing history and are forced back to FBM, even though our inventory remains in Amazon warehouses.
More recently, support has told us that we must remove these products or face escalating storage fees, costing us tens of thousands. We even launched nine listings of large mirrors three months ago, and the same issue occurred, with FBA listings switching to FBM after two days.
Currently, we have 36 rug listings in Amazon’s warehouses specifically for Q4 sales, stocked over a month ago. Within just two days of launch, all listings reverted to FBM. This repetitive problem not only restricts us from selling our products but also forces us to choose between bearing storage costs or shipping them back, costing us $40,000 solely for shipping.
This persistent technical glitch has already cost us over $20,000, and we’re now risking another $40,000, with all our listings tied up and no viable solution in sight. Each time we reach out, we’re redirected to new support agents who start the same troubleshooting steps without solving the problem.
Is this a deliberate issue, or simply negligence? Why aren’t there skilled technical experts who can provide an effective resolution? It’s unacceptable to face such an error, especially during Q4.
What are we expected to do to avoid losing these 36 listings, 3 containers of inventory, and $40,000?

Do you have any third-party apps connected to your account that could be sending over inventory data or have you done any spreadsheet uploads with a value in the quantity field? I ask because if either of these things happen, it will cause your listing to switch from FBA to FBM.

Hi @Seller_J3vQ7dhgh90ky,
Dominic from Amazon here, happy to help with this. Is this still occurring and have you created any cases with Seller Support?
Best,
Dominic

I would recommend checking the 3rd party app that you use to see if it has a way for you to mark SKUs as FBA, so that it will stop sending over inventory data for those SKUs. The app that I use has a way to do this, so I would be surprised if the one you are using doesn't.
