Buyer has asked for an invoice?
Hello everyone
I am not VAT registered, but the buyer has sent me a message asking for a VAT invoice.
What am I to do in such a situation? I’m quite confused, they already have the order details, wouldn’t that suffice as far as record keeping goes?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the buyer a Business Customer? If no, you are not required to provide them invoices, but if yes, you will need to supply them a receipt, even if you aren’t VAT registered.
Simply search on Google for a free online invoice generator, which you can use for this purpose.

I get this a lot. As far as I am aware it is not a legal requirement unless you are VAT registered. I just signpost them to the receipt sent by Amazon. It would be most helpful if Amazon allowed you to automate invoicing without a VAT registration.

One thing a lot of sellers dont realise is - if the total is less than £250 (I think) you dont even need to do the vat calculation - just state the net total and your vat number.
