why are so many listings getting discontinued
i sell video games (not my brand) and recently alot of the whole product pages have been removed says item discontinued the games are authentic and its the main listing from microsoft, sony thats being removed.

I don't think it is gating as much as it is an incredibly incompetent (or worse, disingenuous) attempt to clean up all the duplicate pages that Amazon has allowed sellers to create throughout the years without adherence to guidelines. Rather than eliminate the glut of import and knock-off listings, however, they have instead delisted the original product pages, resulting in a complete mess of knock-off and Renewed listings.
It's now even more difficult for buyers to buy factory sealed older video games they might want, and the lines between US-manufactured NTSC games (the listings they are deactivating) and imports (the knock-off listings created by overseas mega-sellers flooding the catalog) are blurred even further.
When you add the fact that Amazon strikes through warranted negative feedback for mega-sellers clearly rewrapping used products and selling games as new through FBA, it's clear that Amazon no longer prioritizes accuracy, authenticity or integrity. And the days of the "Everything Store" are long over as well, with huge catalog gaps due to delistings and unwarranted high price alert removals.
Either way, several listings are disappearing every hour, as the inevitability creeps closer.

its happening in all categories.. Amazon is taking down all these listings I sell for whatever reason making them 404 not found then you have another 5 generic pages pop up lol because each seller creates their own generic listing..the UPC can't be used again because it's tried to the original listing.
You can say what you want but in this situation Amazon is screwing up. There goal isn't to suspend all these sellers down the road, these are legitimate sellers selling authentic items.. some sellers might get suspended for selling branded items as generic but again Amazon isn't handling this properly because in this case I'd argue they don't want to suspend and lose good sellers.
It's even effecting Amazon's own listings lol. I was selling something that Amazon was also selling and that went 404 not found, it's been almost 3 weeks and Amazon still hasn't fixed it. I suspect they're just overwhelmed with fixing things the bots are taking down 😂

We raised the alarm on this when it started happening months ago. Lately it has gotten worse. We have been told that it was an internal error, that is being worked on. I just wish they had been ahead enough to have caught it before it has gotten as bad as it is now.
months ago 2-5 ASINs, now over 200+ ASINs removed.
This is also still not counting the 200+ that were removed due to GTIN mismatches for old Eidos Interactive games that the GTIN information was a mess on.
Hope you can get some answers as well. If this was a data issue, then letting us sellers that know about the problems with these older products may have been able to help.

Amazon has done same with toys along with price fixing and made catalog of older items horrible forcing customers back to the bay which is good thing as Amazon clearly wants to be like Alibaba and sell new knock off unbranded items.

Have you realized yet that all your sega branded games are now gated and they were even nice enough to not tell us and just delete the listings so you have no idea which ones are still listed. Amazon is full of morons. Nobody knows what they are doing and nobody has any authority to do anything.
