To many sellers using old listings with other unrelated product reviews

Hi
I am noticing this more and more and more sellers are selling a new product using reviews from previous totally unrelated product listings

I saw one seller use 300 reviews, that had nothing to do with the new product he updated the listing too.

This totally miss leads the customers on the quality of the product.
It’s no different from fake reviews, because the reviews are not related to the new product their selling using the old listing.

Easy way to stop this is if a product changes it’s category to totally new category or has a unrelated title to it’s existing category. Then review for this listing should be automatically reset to Zero

On Amazon, no product page should be changed to advertise a completely different product.

Here is the relevant policy:

https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/help.html/?itemID=G200390640&ref_=ag_G200390640_h_r0_cont_sgsearch

You must not use an existing listing for a new version of a product. This includes changes in color, size, material, features, and product name. Instead, create a new product detail page for each new version. For example, a manufacturer updates its streaming media player by adding a new remote control with four buttons instead of two. This is materially different from the older version. It must be listed as a new ASIN.

The option to update listings is there, so that sellers can fix incorrect information.

But as everyone knows, this can be very easily abused.

There are sellers, whose business model is to search for abandoned (out of stock - currently unavailable) ASINs with great reviews and history, only to alter them beyond recognition into their generic Chinese items of poor quality and then boost sales with coupons and advertising.

Both accounts would have to have the same VAT number?
