How can you make a profit?

I have noticed several products that are actually cheap let’s say less than £1, but their size means that P&P adds quite a lot to the cost. For instance a product which is 10x5x7 150 g. How can anyone sell it for £1.99 with free delivery and still make a profit? I am genuinely puzzled.

30p referral
97p postage if average weighted with under 100g items

Sell multiple units in one sale and that’s extra saving on postage

Sell 1000s and its worthwhile

There are many selling on here, who literally don’t have a clue.
You will see them come and go like wildfire. They will sell a shedload of stuff, realise that they are losing money and then disappear.

But there are also times where volume is more important than profit. That can have a major effect on the cost of postage etc.

Best way to sell on Amazon is to just set your stall out and keep to it. Consistency I think is the key to Amazon and running into Dutch Auctions doesn’t help anyone in the long term.

Under selling is just not sustainable but you have to think that many sellers who say have thousands of lines and listings probably just don’t keep on top of them. This is why the business model for Amazon is so great, it really doesn’t matter to them as it is the sellers that are taking the hit, Amazon profit no matter what.

I used to have products that I sold for less than purchase price sometimes to get rid. If they are slow selling it is still better to sell off than pay to have them sent back or destroyed.
