Read onlyI sell under the Amazon Handmade category.
As of July 31 I cannot create new listings. The product listing page also changed on that day and there were new fields introduced.
One of the new fields is asking for an External Product ID which has never applied to the Handmade category, has something changed?
If I check the box "I don't have a Product ID" different things will happen depending on how many images I have uploaded.
If I have only one image uploaded I will get this error message:
It says I need to apply for a GTIN exemption which I have never encountered after many years of adding products to Amazon Handmade under the exact same category.
However, if I had two or more images, I do not get any error.
Instead, when I fill out everything I would normally fill out and go to save the product I will get a new error when I click save it shows this at the top:
It will say " -The attributes are invalid." at the top one time for every extra image that I try to upload. In this case I tried to upload a total of 3 images (1 main, 2 extra).
This error started on the same day that the "Add a Product" tool was updated which I believe was July 31st. I know that I successfully created a new product on Amazon the day before on July 30th and "add a product" tool to create a new listing was the old regular format.
I have opend a case with Amazon (case 15750418221) but they are not seeing the same errors that I am seeing.
Is anyone else under the Handmade category having this issue? Have the requirements for External Product ID changed?
I'm having the same problem. I'll open a case as well. Please update with any info you get!
Hi there @Seller_16u4wwaJhlRsO.
I suspect there is an issue with the Product ID requirements for these products. At this time this issues is being reviewed in your case, however if it closes without resolution please reach out to me here and I will escalate where possible. Thank you for your understanding.

The exact same thing is happening to me. I'm also a handmade seller. It's really frustrating. I opened a case yesterday after seeking help from the "help center" without any success.
Same problem as of yesterday. I opened a case as well, but no resolve at this point.
I'm just trying to list my first products, so I have no idea how it used to work, if exemptions were needed before, but I've hit this same brick wall.
Based on all of the instructions we need to select a "I don't have a Product ID" checkbox, but it seems the checkbox that is referred to in the instructions does not appear - or at least I can't find it.
Can anyone else find this checkbox?

Once you have your product images, follow the steps below to apply for a GTIN exemption.
Is selling on Amazon really supposed to be this hard? Yikes!
Lets figure it out, Adam
Same thing happens to me, editing text information is ok to save, but every time I upload image, it can't save and submit. Other funny thing is when I select I don't have product ID to apply for GTIN exemption, I can't list a variation if I list product outside of handmade.
(Handmade only has big category but not go in specific category, so if you want to go in a specific category, you need to list it out of handmade, but I can't list a variation without UPC code. Which very annoying @@
I think there was a letter that went out today for Amazon Handmade saying you needed a product ID now, I'll check trash...
Yup..
Here
Dear Handmade Selling Partners,
As part of the reclassification of existing Handmade products from GUILD product types to standard product types, when creating a new listing or editing an existing listing or variation, you will now be required to provide a Product ID or to request a Product ID Exemption.
Product IDs are part of a system of unique identifiers called Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs). The specific GTIN required varies by category. The requirements of each category, including exceptions and exemptions where available, are summarized in the table on the Product ID (GTIN) requirements by category.
The following are the most common GTINs used to create Amazon catalog pages:
• Universal Product Code (UPC)
• European Article Number (EAN)
• If you tried to add your products via a feed and received a listing error, use Add a product to view the approval requirements for the ASIN that returned the error.
If your product does not have a product ID or GTIN, you can request a GTIN exemption.
GTIN exemption is by product type, so you will only need to submit a GTIN exemption request once per product type. Please note, at this time Handmade uses Guild Product Types but in the future when Handmade migrates to Amazon standard product types, you may have to request an exemption again.
You can learn about requesting a GTIN exemption here.
While listing your product and filling in attributes, select “I do not have a Product ID”. If you do not have a Product ID and receive an error stating “GTIN exemption is required”, select apply now.
Hey y'all the issue with image has been fixed. I can successfully upload and edit the listing today morning.
