Are wholesalers allowed to sell on Amazon?
As a new seller I’ve been looking at a lot of wholesalers. On a couple of occasions I’ve noticed that the item price to me is exactly the same as the lowest price on Amazon (ergo no point me purchasing). So this got me wondering if wholesalers selling to us Amazon sellers are themselves allowed to sell on Amazon OR have Amazon got a criteria not allowing this (as a seller I am obviously hoping the latter), curious if anything.

Yes wholesalers can sell on Amazon there is nothing stopping them selling the same goods as you do.
In my opinion it is bad practice as wholesalers/suppliers should not compete with their customers. I have in the past dropped a couple of suppliers I buy from as they were selling on Amazon as well.
Also just because the price is low doesn’t mean it is a wholesaler selling it. For example I have an item which is available at £3.80 from wholesalers but I buy it at £2.90 directly from the manufacturer. It is possible that your competitor is just getting a better deal than you.

I’m with Smiley, the day my wholesaler starts retailing is the day I find a new wholesaler.
Its really rude to compete with your customers.
Agree with Smiley too, I have seen some wholesalers sell items for more than I pay for them. Just because someone gets a better price and has less overheads than you doesn’t mean they’re a wholesaler

There are plenty of wholesalers/distributors trading under different names than they’re known for.
And I completely agree to what was said; they should not compete with their customers.
I also dropped a few suppliers for the very same reason. I told them straight away that I couldn’t compete with them as they got them from the source. So there was no point in keeping the same line of business.
You can’t have the best of both worlds.

We are a wholesaler/distributor and also sell B2C, there’s more too it than just “making a sale” - We are building a brand and getting our products out there. The amount of people that buy online from us that then buy in-store is a huge number. Pricing is also at full RRP for all of our lines online.
We don’t have any of our B2B customers competing against ourselves online on Amazon but we aren’t looking to supply someone who is just looking to sell products on Amazon.
