fba sending customers the wrong item

I had a look at voice of the customer today and lots of customers are complaining about receiving the wrong colour, they are tubes of silicone sealant that look the same but obviously contain differing colours.

Each colour is sent in with FBA stickers applied at my warehouse, a minimum of one box of each colour is sent to FBA, no mixed boxes are sent.

For whatever reason FBA occasionally oversticker my labels with their own and then end up sending the wrong colour out. These are some examples:

The silicone delivered was cream in colour instead of dark grey.

Silicone is dark blue rather than dark grey. Can supply a photo.

Silicon tube says dark grey on outside as ordered but when tube opened it is white. (I don't sell white!)

Item delivered should be grey but green in colour

There should be no comingling as there is no-one else selling these. Does anyone have any idea of why FBA might do this? And what I could do to stop them? It's no good opening cases.

Try requesting a bin check and see what comes back

Some possibilities:

Some of the products are being returned by customers and being mislabelled when being put back on sale. This could happen, for example, if people are ordering multiple colours at once, start a return for say the cream but return the dark grey, thinking it doesn't matter to them which is sent on which return, as they get the same money back either way.

The labels are coming off or being damaged at some point between you shipping and them being sent to customers, and Amazon are placing new, incorrect, labels on themselves.

The labels you're putting on are for some reason unreadable by their machines and then the same as above is happening.

Buyers are lying to try and get refunds or compensation.

The products are being manufactured wrong.

If you believe what the buyers are saying, the last one seems the most likely, as several of them seem to be saying that the colour written on the packaging matches the purchase. That it's the contents of the tube that don't match what's written on the tube.

Frankley I would think twice sending this sort of product to FBA.

Knowing how difficult it can be getting the right colour at say B&Q when you know what your looking for and have the time to go through the shelves.

Unless there is a big bold sticker on the tube with the colour or a clear see through patch on it then handing it over to a FC where the automatons picking the stuff will probably never have the time or inclination to closely scrutinise the bottom of the tube to see what colour is inside, not that it is that clear in the first place seeing your looking through a semi opaque stopper

Does anyone have any idea of why FBA might do this?

You might as well ask Crusty the clown to ship it for you!

Only time this has ever happened to me is when we've labelled incorrectly. Are you absolutely positive there was no mistakes?

They make mistakes all the time. We have had customers saying they have received baby wipes, doormats etc. instead of electronic goods that we sell.
