Getting to speak to an actual human being?

WHY is listing a product on Amazon so damn complicated, I really cannot understand how or why they have been so successful. All I am trying to do is list a coffee mug for sale with my design on it and it is impossible. The system will not recognize my barcode, then the answer comes back that my barcode is valid however the system still will not let me list my product as it says my barcode does not match the product… RIDICULOUS!..

Why can you not get to speak to an ACTUAL human being to answer the question and to tell you exactly what to do according to Amazon as I follow the instructions to the letter and I still cannot list my product!

You seem to be very stressed about this complicated system. My advice is to list it on eBay. No barcodes or complicated rituals. You create the images, description, postage and everything else. Simples.

Seriously, if people get to this point, and feel this amount of stress, why bother? Is it worth it for how much money you might make? I keep things simple on here, and if Amazon ever give me any crap, I will simply quit. Life really is too short.

Interesting comment MDCooper2187!

I AM keeping things very simple, all I am trying to do is list a coffee mug with my design on it, I have hundreds of others, however I cannot even list the first one!

I have already listed the products on ebay and other forums, therefore I do know exactly how easy it can / should be thank you.

Amazon is by far the largest forum (how and why I really do not know considering how difficult and complicated it is for a seller to list products) which is why I thought I would give it a try.

At the end of the day, a 2 minute telephone conversation with someone would probably resolve the issue or at least inform me if I am doing something wrong instead of continually going round the houses and getting nowhere!

Hello Little Shop :grinning:

Yes my barcodes are from GS1, Amazon tell me the barcode I am using is correct, however it still brings up an error!

I am not enrolled in “Brand Registry” is that an Amazon thing?

I understand to register a brand / trademark would take at least 6 months and I cannot believe everyone selling mugs on Amazon has registered a brand!

Thank you BM5, I will try that when the lines are open at 8am. Much appreciated :grinning:

CRYING OUT LOUD -
I am fighting amazon since MAY to close the account!! We as a seller had enough - amazon became too complicated and impossible to deal with.
We are leaving the opportunity for someone who wants to do a PHD in Amazon processes.

I guess amazon might get a message if a lot of good sellers will quit.
Good luck otherwise.

If the barcode is GS1 and you own it, just create a case and talk to them about it. They might or might not ask for some more information and that is it.

Whilst everyone is telling you how to solve your EAN issues, I would have recommended simply applying for a GTIN exemption. If these are your own mugs, and they are produced and sold in a way that does not support/need barcodes then do away with them.

@ The_Happy_Mugger

Have you tried using the inventory -> To begin adding products -> Find your products in Amazon’s catalogue and search for your product using the EAN

Trying to list some products recently using this tool it kept showing a different set of products relating to the EAN / barcode.

Personally I never create listings for products on Amazon, if products I sell do not exist I do not sell them on Amazon.

Good luck…

The “system”, designed to exclude humans as far as possible, allows you to click the “Help” link at the bottom of most Seller Central pages, then follow through all the AI (or ALOI as it is known on Amazon - Artificial Lack of Intelligence) options about “trouble adding a product” eventually after probably the system telling you of a mismatch, there is a Contact Seller Support link - click it. This then creates a Case. Then you can spend the next 6 weeks or more conversing with AI, via Template responses - with the occasional response from a human, which incidentally is likely to either contradict all you have previously read but still give a stupid excuse, or make even less sense than the AI - OR, or, or, you could sell them elsewhere and have a much better stress free life !
