Hi all,
Hoping somebody can help answer some questions for me regarding selling into European markets.
We sold into Europe in the past but of course Brexit made things that bit more complex. We are sellers of used tech, mainly mobile phones.
First question. When selling into European countries, is there still a tight delivery deadline? Reason i ask is that whenever a shipment has been delayed in the UK (thanks to couriers) as of recent, customers are able to complain and receive a full refund. It is sods law that then the item gets delivered and i am unable to claim compensation because couriers claim it has been delivered within their delivery window (as per T&C's). This seems a huge grey area and of course Amazon couldn't be less interested if i lose £500's worth of items etc. I worry this could happen far more frequently selling abroad. Am i able to set my own delivery time preferences?
Second question. I assume there are different VAT/tax setups in different countries. Is there an idiots guide online that i can refer to, to ascertain where to consider and/or where to avoid?
Third question. I am aware customs can be an issue, particularly considering most of my items are valuable items. Are custom charges paid by us, or the buyers? Also, is customs charge generally a flat rate, or based upon size/weight/value?
Fourth question. Does anybody have any recommendations as to what courier to use? I currently use DPD & Royal Mail. Both have their faults, as with any.
Lastly, i have put off selling abroad because i believe that it could well cause many headaches. However, i am well aware i am potentially missing out on a huge market. Do you as other sellers believe i should consider selling into Europe again?
Thanks in advance for any help.
