Read onlyHello fellow sellers,
I'm reaching out for help with a VAT issue I'm facing with Amazon. Despite my repeated emails, I'm getting automated responses that don't address my concerns. Here's the situation:
- I'm not a UK-established seller and not VAT registered (my turnover is below £85,000).
- Amazon recently changed their policy, requiring non-established sellers to pay VAT from 2021.
- I'm willing to pay the VAT, but I've requested an instalment plan due to financial constraints.
- However, Amazon continuously sends me automated emails asking for the last 3 VAT filings and bank statements, which I cannot provide since I'm not VAT registered.
I've explained my situation and provided screenshots of my up-to-date company account with HMRC, but I still receive the same automated email asking for payment in full.
Has anyone faced a similar issue? How did you resolve it? Please share your experiences or offer advice on how to escalate this matter.
Thank you for your help and support!
It seems to be unclear from other posts whether Amazon still exoect you to have a VAT number as you shouldve been vat registered from the point that you started doing fba - if they are asking for VAT filings maybe they are trying to check if youve paid anything
" I'm not a UK-established seller and not VAT registered (my turnover is below £85,000)."
You should have been VAT registered from the start as you are considered a NETP, and the £85,000 (now £90,000) threshold only applies to UK residents , not non-UK sellers.
There have been quite a lot of folks with the same problem, and needing an instalment plan, but as I am not VAT registered, and am established in UK, cannot advise anymore - sorry.
