EORI Number & Import VAT
Hi,
Has anyone had any dealing with Amazon’s with regards to claiming back import tax via EORI numbers?
Say for instance if we want to purchase something from Amazon US and have it delivered to us in the UK, how would we go about it, so that we can claim back the import VAT?
It appears to us right now Amazon doesn’t have a way for us to add our EORI number. So there is no way to add it to the shipping label for the courier
We are also trying to a similar thing with eBay, Pitney Bowls and GSP. Any assistance with these will also be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Best regards
Yudon

With EORI you are not entitled to claim any vat back you can only claim vat if you are vat registered.

Hello,
We also have the same issue regards to the VAT import to UK FBA & the custom asked for the EORI number, which I have no where to find this here. I also checked with the forwarder (no help) Anyone is clear about this?
Thanks so much.

Your EORI number is generally your VAT number with 000 as a suffix.
@CYB I know it’s painful but I’d call the droids at HMRC. They invariably are non commital in answering questions. The difficulty is sometimes getting them to understand what you actually mean. You need to use their terms for it to compute in their minds. I’ve had many a frustrating hour on the phone to them and they do all sound like they are programmed with their monotonous voices.
We have probably only imported once or twice in 12 years of business but from what I remember you simply account for it on your VAT return?
It’s Box 7 by the looks of it but you no doubt have to check the relevant records. C79 Certificate in 2nd link.
Read and digest that nonsense and give them a call once you know a bit more about what you’re talking about (in their terms).
