IPROL unreadable surcharges
For anyone uses Royal Mail - please keep an eye on your invoices for IPROL "unreadable barcodes"
These surcharges are not notified in the standard way and buried in the invoice.
I also believe that many of these charges are false and the issues lies in Royal mail's systems.
If you believe your labels are correct - make sure to dispute the charges in the way you normally do (i.e. Royal Mail Contact Finance Form)

I have had zero success in challenging these. Even though my labels appeared perfectly readable. When I scanned either the QR Code or the Barcode on tracked items it was always readable
Royal Mail always blamed me and couldn't provide any evidence to show what was wrong with the barcode. They wouldn't though overturn the surcharge.
Whilst my barcodes appeared to be readable and everyone I tested was fine I did eventually get a response from RM telling me that the barcodes were grainy. Using help from my printer manufacturer I changed the resolution/darkness of my printing and since then I not had a single unreadable barcode.
I do think their machines are very sensitive and if the barcode is slightly lighter or has a couple of imperfections they can't cope.
What angers me most about this is the hidden nature of this surcharge, if you are not checking your invoices fully you will miss it.

Also had a few but one typical ridiculous example was a Tracked item that I had our postman do an acceptance scan on collection with his handheld which was fine, but then at the mail centre wasn't readable by their PSM.
I found it absurd that the much cheaper handhelds could read it but their state if art Mail centre machines couldn't.
This was the reply they gave - so their machines going to fast to read - is it our fault the expectancy of their machines are not at least as good at reading as a handheld !!!!
"Our PSMs use advanced camera technology to read the data matrix on your parcels as they travel at high speeds across our belts. The operating conditions differ from those seen by your mobile phone or PDA when testing a stationary barcode, which have more attempts to read the barcode and are generally closer. This can mean that labels readable by a handheld device are not of a high enough quality to be readable by our machines. The PSMs are built with advanced error detection technology that may be able to rebuild the data matrix even if it has issues. This will mean that the PSM may successfully sort some parcels even when issues are present in all of them."
