Are you using the professional plan where you can set your own shipping costs? Do you understand shipping in the mail order industry, of which you are a part of?

1. Don't make the biggest mistake on shipping. That shipping allowance has nothing to do with the actual shipping cost. You must factor in the shipping, to the cost of your product to make a profit. Those shipping amounts shown to you and the customer are there to let the customer know that, no matter who they buy from, the shipping is either free or as shown. That way the customer only focuses on the actual product cost. Amazon displays $3.99 for a post card that ships for $0.60, and displays $3.99 for a set of encyclopedias which cost $100.00 to ship. Add the shipping cost into your product price.

2. Buying shipping through Amazon is easy to start with. And you will be protected from INR claims made by the customer.

3. When planning your shipping cost simply calculate the cost to the furthest zip code away from you, and always use that zip code. that way you will never loose on the shipping.

4. Although Amazon strongly suggests that you use delivery confirmation on every sale, they will not accept that is was delivered for real with our a signature confirmation. Yes, I know it does not sound right, but that's just how Amazon is. The Post Office will not honor any lost claim if a package shows delivery, But........Amazon will not consider delivered, unless signed for. It seems that Amazon uses the delivery confirmations simply to track the SELLERS Track Record.

5. Being a new seller, it will state that by your name, and also show no or very low feedback. That said, it's not talked about much, but scammers will buy from new Amazon sellers and claim not received. They know you are just starting out and do not want an unhappy customer who will leave neg. feedback or file a A-Z Claim. They will ask for you to refund their money, and most new sellers do it with no return. So............READ and FOLLOW AMAZON'S POILCIES AND DO NOT REFUND UNTILL THE ITEM IS RETURNED.

6. You have to know your shipping carriers, and the rates they charge in advance. What does EXPEDITED SHIPPING mean? If you use it, some customers expect it over night. If you use USPS, a 20-pound flat rate box will get there as fast as a 7oz. envelope. Customers think they are getting something better when they are not.

Hope those tips help. We'll wait to hear from you when you run into your first shipping problem. Good Luck, and remember, selling on Amazon is not a skill you are born with, you have to acquire it a little at a time.

Remember, that shipping amount of $3.99 has nothing to do with actual shipping. It is there to make customer's buying decision based solely on the cost, as all listings would have the same $3.99 of free.
