Can no longer list products using original brand name

Hi friends,

I sell 2 items using a brand name. 1 item has been out of stock for a while now and its not been replenished for a few months ( i was busy else where ). Recently i tried to create some new variations for this product ( different colours) but i was not able to ( no errors, or anything, save and finish never did anything).

I tried to then create a new product listing using the same brand name, It looks like i no longer have GTIN exemption to list “Computer & Accessories” using a custom brand name, but i can use generic. Could this be the reason why i no longer was able to create variations on my existing listing?

When i try to reapply for GTIN exemption i get the following product:

Brands not eligible for Exemption

You may not create new ASINs for this brand. You are free to add offers to any existing ASIN for this brand… error code 5461.

I’m pretty confused what’s happening here, like i mentioned ive been away from selling on amazon for a few months now.

After a pretty lenghtly back and fourth with support today i was basically told

As per our investigation, we were able to find that brand: “” does not manufacture products of this category.

I had to send them photos of the product, fortunately i had some photos of the product i sold previously ( new stock has not arrived).

I’m so confused why they have determined this. The product is a white label ive asked to be manufactored and i get it shipped from china. There is already an ASIN that created which using the same name ( The asin im no longer able to add variations to). So its a contradiction that they have not found anything.

Ive no idea what to do, any advice is welcome.

Hey @KXK,

Are you still seeing this issue? By chance do you own the brand?

Regards,

I may be reading this incorrectly - but what I do know is that all variations of a product must have same Brand. So if parent was listed as a custom brand you cannot add variations using ‘Generic’ for Brand

Amazon may also want a Letter of Authority from the Brand approving you to add products under that Brand. It sounds daft but there are cases in the forums where someone owns a Brand and have basically written a LoA to themselves authorising them to list under that brand. You then submit this to Amazon
