Report A Listing Violation?
I’m quite an easy going individual, and always play by the rules. I’m getting a little frustrated though at the amount of people listing products in a manner that is in total contradiction of the rules. As an example, we found one today whereby the seller has listed one ASIN, but as variations, in addition to colour, you can choose four different leg lengths, (these are shorts so it makes a big difference,) you can select the type of built in underwear, and you can choose variations with or without pockets. In effect, they have five different models being sold under one parent. Accordingly, sales of the parent are strong and it features high in the best seller list, even though it is confusing for the customer.
Having had enough of the above, I’ve just reported the listing. Does anybody else actively report listing abuse? I’ve always shied away from this before now as it tends to open a can of worms.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Have you got an ASIN example?
I’m not entirely sure if this is a violation as it’s options on the same product?
But I can certainly see why it’s confusing on Amazon.

To be honest, it sounds like they’re actually using the variations system ‘properly’, which most sellers don’t.
If they’re all shorts, all the same brand, then they technically are just ‘variations’ of the same product.

Thanks for the replies, I can see where you’re coming from, and normally I would agree. In this case though, the model is materially different: In simple terms, think along these lines:
Parent ASIN is a pair of Speedos
Six children matching the parent in different colours. Still being Speedos
Six more children using the same parent, (image and description,) but now being swim shorts with a liner and no pocket.
Six more children again using the same parent, but with a slightly longer leg length, but now featuring two pockets.
Six more children, but this time, they’re bermuda style swimming shorts.
In all cases, the title and product description match the parent ASIN, and have no similarity to the product in the image gallery.
Make sense? Happy to stand corrected.

Unfortunately, Amazon rarely acts on reports from sellers complaining about other merchant’s listing violating their policies.
You can try using the “Report abuse” button, which is present on every listing on the Amazon site or submit a case using the “Report a violation” option which is available to choose from in the “Contact us” menu.
But if you posted some example ASINs, other sellers would be able to offer more feedback.
