I’m reaching out regarding my ongoing issue with ASIN ......, which has been unfairly suspended from sale on Amazon UK despite being fully compliant with applicable UK laws and Amazon policies. I feel this matter reflects an inconsistent and potentially discriminatory enforcement of Amazon’s Bladed Products Policy, and I’m asking for your urgent attention.
This ASIN was active for over a year, with more than 58 positive customer reviews, no safety complaints, and no previous compliance flags. Suddenly, Amazon suspended the listing and stated that my product falls under the prohibited category of “spare, loose, disposable, or replacement sharp metal scraper blades intended for DIY and home improvement purposes” — products which Amazon says cannot be sold on Amazon.co.uk.
From the outset, I challenged this classification. My scraper blades are safely packaged, intended for legitimate DIY use, and are legally sold in the UK without restriction. To better understand the decision, I submitted appeals and asked for clarification. Amazon’s responses have been inconsistent and unhelpful. Here’s a summary of the replies I’ve received:
Amazon first stated:
“Your product has been suspended because spare, loose, disposable, or replacement sharp metal scraper blades intended for DIY and home improvement purposes are prohibited for sale on Amazon.co.uk. Your listing falls under this restricted category.”
Later, Amazon claimed:
“As per the images, the blades are Stainless Steel. But description in the detail page has plastic which creates ambiguity. Scraper Blades are restricted for sales.”
This description/image point is a minor listing detail that I could have easily corrected, yet instead of allowing an update, Amazon has maintained a total ban on my product.
The most recent response from Amazon was:
“We have reviewed all the information about the product. The ASIN is violating the Amazon policy, there is no path for reinstatement for this ASIN.”
Despite these rejections, I have repeatedly pointed out that Amazon Retail itself — along with multiple other third-party sellers — continues to sell identical scraper blade products on Amazon UK. I have screenshots and search results showing this clearly. This means Amazon’s own retail division and other sellers are allowed to sell products that I am being prohibited from listing.
This selective enforcement creates a highly uneven playing field and damages fair competition. As a small business seller, I cannot compete when Amazon applies policies against me but not against itself or others offering the same type of product. It feels like my appeals have been dismissed without genuine review.
I have already taken multiple steps to resolve this:
Submitted multiple appeals explaining the product’s compliance and safe use.
Offered to update the listing to remove any ambiguity in the description.
Provided product details and usage explanations to clarify it does not violate any UK law.
Highlighted the fact that other identical products, including Amazon Retail listings, remain active.
None of these points have been addressed in Amazon’s responses. Instead, I’ve been given template replies that avoid the core issue — the lack of consistent policy enforcement.
At this stage, I am requesting a thorough and fair review by Amazon Legal to ensure the rules are applied equally to all sellers, including Amazon Retail. I am happy to provide evidence of the active competing listings, including those sold directly by Amazon, for your reference.
This appears to be an anti-competitive practice.
I hope Amazon Legal will recognise the seriousness of this matter and act to correct it quickly.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am ready to provide further evidence immediately if needed.
