Account deactivated
Hi all,
I am stuck in a loop trying to reactivate my seller account.
I have had an Amazon account (individual, not business) for almost 20 years, sporadically selling some unwanted stuff, although not very recently. Last year the account was suddenly deactivated without giving a specific reason (just violation of section 3). Searching my email for any warnings I only see a notice of deactivating a particular listing because of alleged intellectual property infringement. The item is a used AMD CPU that I had posted after upgrading my PC. I ignored that warning as I didn’t mind if the listing was deactivated, it was a very low value item anyway, but it did seem weird that it would trigger a copyright infringement, as I was not claiming I designed the CPU, I was just selling it as used.
Anyway, I’m not sure my account’s deactivation is because of that, but that’s the only red flag or warning I see in my emails or when I login.
Here is my account info page:

Clicking on the link at the bottom shows this:
This is the old AMD CPU with the Trademark Misuse claim, strangely from a third company, not AMD, but regardless, I removed the listing, and there’s nothing else I can do. If I click edit, it takes me to the inventory page filtered for this product, which shows no results as the listing is removed.

Edit: Just seen your last feedback was 2015 so is it that long since you’ve sold?
There must be something in what you’ve submitted thats making Amazon think you’re a business, are you self employed outside of Amazon maybe?

Hi
I’ve got exactly the same problem as dorsetsquare with my account reactivated. I’ve given Amazon the information they needed but they haven’t reactivated my account and do not respond to my messages to ask them to do so. There is no other way to contact Amazon that I can find. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. It was at the end of November. It actually an individual account not a business account as Gold Top Books only has one book I have self published so far.

Ok I see what you are saying. So with my account deactivated do you know how I can change the identity information to a business as nothing seems to work in my account with it deactivated?

I have a UTR for my personal self assessment for employment income, absolutely nothing to do with the few items I sold on Amazon, the vast majority of which were used, and sold at a loss.
I understand that selling something as an individual even if it’s shrink wrapped needs to be marked as used (or “like new”, but not “new”). But I didn’t know that before and I can’t do anything now about items that I may have listed as new a decade ago. If I knew then I would simply have changed the listing. If Amazon had told me so, I would have complied. But they never did. In fact, I’m not even sure this is the reason for the account deactivation, as it happened several years after these listings. But let’s assume it is the reason. I should still be given the option to have an individual account if I never sell something as new, right? Or is it that once you cross the Rubicon, there’s no turning back?

I wonder if it’s something on the bank statements or some checks they do especially if you’re already self employed

An update on this. Still the same inescapable loop exists. I have managed to make contact with someone in the VAT verification team and went through that process. Unfortunately the next step was the KYC team, which is not much more than an automated system that rejects my KYC attempts because my account is deactivated (even though their processing is the next step in the process of reactivating the account!).
