Legal Entity Account Issues

Hi everyone!

So I was requested to change my legal entity from individual to sole proprietor which I have done.

I’ve also registered myself as self employed and have received my UTR number. This is activated and should be good to go.

My only issue is that it asks for my ‘Business name as it appears on the business registratior’ and I have no clue what this is. Also I have tried to find myself on the government business lookup website and I’m not there.

I’ve tried contacting HMRC but because of Covid they are not in their offices so nobody can help me there.

Does anyone know how I can find out my legal business name?

Thanks in advance

Hi
If you haven’t registered a name with HMRC then you are simply whatever your own personal name is. You can create a name for yourself in which case you would appear as something like “John Smith T/A The Toy Seller”. T/A stands for Trading As.

As it stands now, your only business name is your own personal name

Hi

I am having the same issue. I have entered my UTR as i am a sole trader and that has been accepted but Amazon now needs a ‘Letter of authorisation’ Please any ideas what this is as i have rang Amazon Support and they were unhelpful. I am still account deactivated and i hae no idea what this letter is. Thanks

Thanks i now have my letter accepted but still deactivated as they need other docs. I have sent them my tax return with summary as they require proof of NI contributions but they rejected this. I work full time in employment and so don’t pay class 2 NI as my Amazon is only part time. I don’t know what other docs i can send them. I have asked for a call back twice but heard nothing not even email info back. I have sent them my UTR which was accepted but i am a sole trader and don’t earn enough from sales to pay VAT so i dont have any VAT letters etc. Any ideas what else i can do would be very much appreciated.
