FBA Shipping Labels Stuck to Products

Hi All, I have been receiving poor reviews from customers regarding Amazon delivering (FBA) products without postage packaging and with the shipping label stuck straight on to the product. Thus making the item unsuitable for gifting.

Is there anyway to change settings / stop this from occurring?

Thanks in advance for any help provided here.

Hi All,

Just thought I’d reply with an update and a positive Amazon sellers support experience.

I raised a case, linked to an order that had been returned due to this issue, and Amazon have updated the system to ship the ASIN ‘with an over box’ to prevent future damage.

So if you have a similar issue, there is a route to resolution.

Thanks again everyone for the help and advice.

Happy holidays.

Unfortunately you can’t stop Amazon from doing this. The customer can specify when they buy the item that they want it sent in Amazon packaging which stops this.

All you can do is package the product differently when you send it into FBA. For example putting in a poly bag so the stickers go on that rather than the product.

SIOC (ships in own container) has been a thing for a while and Amazon are increasingly using it. I’ve received all sorts of things recently with the address label stuck on the clear polybag the seller sent the item into FBA with.

There’s a general lack of clear policy on SIOC, but previously Amazon have said they choose what goes as SIOC and will only stop SIOC for a product if they get negative feedback from buyers - no opt in / opt out for sellers.

Sellers can only really be cognisant that SIOC may be used and package accordingly prior to shipping into FBA. Buyers do get an option at checkout to “hide” the contents, but many will miss it.

Happens every year especially around Christmas as amazon hand over the kids Xmas present. But as above buyers can request if they would like it boxes. Another one of those customer didn’t read.

To be fair as a buyer you might think you are doing the right thing for the environment but requesting it not to be in boxes.

Amazon do have a duty of care not to put stickers on products which are obviously going to damage them or are likely to be gifted. There should be some common sense applied.

I do now know some of my items maybe sent like this so I may choose to box it myself or put in a clear poly bag so that the item is not spoilt.

Thank you for your help. All our products are packaged in a similar eco friendly cardboard box which is ideal for gifting, fear I may be getting a number of returns!

Then you have 2 options,polybag/extra packaging or stop selling them. Its that simple,Amazon will not change the way they do things.
