Lithium Ion shipping requirements and UKCA/CE products compliance
Hi all
I am thinking of selling a product with a lithium ion battery but i am a bit worried about shipping them. I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience in shipping products with Li-ion batteries and what you must do so that they pass customs and are approved for sale by amazon.
Also as i have an intention to sell a small electronic item would it need CE/UKCA certification? I find it quite hard to know what electronics need those types of certifications for sure.
Thank

I’m not that experienced with international shipping of lithium batteries, but in the UK, there are only certain couriers etc that will actually carry them.
Also, I don’t believe that you can ship them via air either. Though in very small quantities they may be ok.
I would strongly suggest that you ensure whatever courier you use, that they are happy to carry them.
As to CE marks etc, take a look at the .GOV website, it will tell you what is required, for what type of product etc.

Hi Neil, thanks for the info. When you talk about couriers do you mean those that will be forwarding the products to the amazon warehouses? Also i am considering sea shipping so hopefully it wont be an issue when sea shipping. Ive looked at the .GOV website before and still unsure, likelyhood is i probably will need a CE mark. Which isnt an issue, getting a UKCA mark for my product for 01/01/2023 however seems to be another story.
