Read onlyWe’ve updated the A-to-z Guarantee program to support the claims process in the unlikely event that a defective product sold in our EU or UK stores causes property damage or personal injury.
To sell on Amazon, you must obtain and maintain a valid commercial liability insurance policy once the gross proceeds from your transactions exceed the applicable insurance threshold in sales in any month. We also may reach out at any time to ask that you provide this information. For more information about the insurance threshold, go to the Amazon Services Europe Business Solutions Agreement.
For claims under €1,000 or £1,000 that are proven to have been caused by a defective product, at our discretion, we’ll pay a concession directly to the buyer. We’ll notify you when a claim has been processed, and you can follow the claim status on Manage A-to-z Claims in Seller Central. As long as you have proof of valid insurance and adhere to our policies, we won’t request reimbursement from you or your insurance provider.
For claims over €1,000 or £1,000, we or our third-party administrator, Sedgwick, will work with you to verify the claim and pay the concession to the buyer.
If you already have a valid commercial liability insurance policy that you bought in the US and you sell in the EU or UK stores, be sure to check with your insurance provider to verify that your policy covers claims made in the EU and the UK.
If you need a new policy, we’ve identified providers that offer commercial liability insurance. To contact the provider, go to Simply Business
If you’re a reseller and not a producer, we or Sedgwick will contact you via email to provide the producer’s insurance or contact information. You’ll be responsible for the claim compensation value if any of the following is true:

Oh dear. So now the scammers can claim up to £1000 for damage caused by something they didn't receive.
So sellers selling off their old unwanted books and CDs need commercial liability insurance policy. Ive heard it all now
I don't understand who thought this was a good idea. Even if potential users of Amazon knew this, it would make zero difference to them in deciding whether or not to use Amazon. The only people who might be incentivised are people planning to abuse the policy.
Amazon gains nothing from this. It's increasing complexity and spending money for no benefit. Is there some sort of law or legal change being brought in I don't know about that is making Amazon put this in place?
This will work well for all the dodgy electrical items being sold causing fires and such. ;-)
This could be the death knell for 100s of sellers on the platform. Amazon show zero interest in fighting fraudulent claims of INR, alleged damaged or faulty goods or charge backs for that matter, so there is no way on earth they are going to defend sellers against scam claims for damage or injury from a fraudulent buyer. Could this be a ploy for Amazon to start selling insurance like they do for shipping? You know like buy your liability insurance via Amazon and we'll protect you from A to Z's
Favourite word of the post. PROVEN.
What level of proof?
Amazon is already a breeding ground for dishonesty and sellers do not stand a chance. The claims will be rolling in and businesses will have no choice to to leave the platform. Amazon already make more money out of my sales than I do... Time to have a serious think.. Is the stress caused by selling on Amazon worth it.
I have faith in society. This 100% will not be abused by the crooks who already abuse the system....
lol.....I can imagine a buyer making a claim a against a seller, providing an image of a burnt out dollhouse and claim the cost of an entire freehold house...
