Wrong info printed on manual

Hi everyone,
I recently had my shipment arrived at amazon warehouse. Everything looked fine until i found out one of the listed function on my manual is not working on the product. I have a lamp. The USB port was supposed to be useful as a powerbank and not a local file reading port. (that was the deal with my supplier and the initial sample they sent to me did). Recently, I got to check another sample from the mass production that they sent me as a present, but found out, it can actually read the local files from the usb drive or phones but it can’t supply power to charge your phone, tablet etc. which is exactly opposite of what it is printed on the included instruction manual.
I don’t want to sell the products that doesn’t match the instruction manual. i want people to know that there is a wrong thing written on the manual. my question is: Can I make a disclaimer in my product info that this particular function is not available but does another function? Or will Amazon restrict me from selling the product if i do so?
Do you think if it is okay that I update the “About this Item” section and remove the ‘power bank’ function and add ‘local file reader’ as its function but leave the written instruction manual as it is? Please advise.
Thanking you for taking your time to read.

You could certainly amend the listing to clarify things.

The issue, as 50crates has suggested is you would still be sending out a product that has a USB port on it. Given it sounds like it’s a lamp, no one would expect the USB port to be anything but a power supply port. And the instructions would state this as well.

I would anticipate a high return rate.

I would personally look at recalling the item and getting compensation from the manufacturer for their mistake.

Once recalled I would then potentially list them under a new ASIN with the correct details and put a new instruction manual in each box.

Even if you do change your current product listing your instructions will be incorrect and this will generate many customer returns. Also if this is a rechargeable camping type lamp then the USB charging facility is one of the main selling points. I have one myself and I brought it just because it could also charge a phone as well as being a light.

Like others I am intrigued as to how a lamp can read files from a device. If this is even possible I am not sure I would want to own a lamp that can do this it does seem a breach of privacy.

I have a lamp with a usb port that I can use to charge my phone (very very very very slowly… did I mention it was slow?)

Not that I ever use it, but its nice to know its there if my current charger ever stops working, though I don’t think many people actually buy a lamp so they can charge their devices, so its probably not such a big deal (though like others I would change your listing to remove that you can charge your phone if you in fact can’t…)

Also like the others - I want to know what the lamp achieves by reading files? I would be very very dubious of buying a lamp that can do this… if I plugged my phone in and it warned me it was granting access to my files to the lamp I’d be a bit annoyed and feel like I was being scammed so you could hack my phone (people keep their whole lives on their phones nowadays, you’d have access to my bank cards, bank account, login details, personal photos and information…) where is the information going? surely the lamp can’t use it? is it sending it somewhere else through some hidden network?

@Smiley_Guy @50crates @osgood @Dedez Thank you everyone for giving some time to solve my problem. And I am really sorry about the confusion. I should have clearly explained. My apologies.
So it’s a kids’ lamp and light projector with Bluetooth speaker, lullabies and was supposed to have this power bank function. As mentioned before, this function is not available but it can now read the local files on the USB drives, meaning, people can play their songs via this port.
I am very sorry for the incomplete info earlier and causing confusion.
Could you also please suggest me how can i return the products to my supplier from amazon warehouse? Where do I find this option?
Thanking you one more time!

I think they might be ok,
for the usb port to work with a memory usb stick,
it has to have power,
but it might not be enough to charge something with,
have you tried measuring the current output on the usb port?
