Change to Default Handling Time options Email
Got this email just now:
Dear Sellers
Sellers often set longer Handling Times than they actually need to prepare, pack and hand-over packages to carriers. This causes buyers browsing products to see longer than necessary delivery dates. In contrast, by setting more accurate Handling Times, buyers typically see more attractive delivery dates which on average leads to more sales.
We have detected that 85% of the time sellers fulfill orders within 1 day of receiving an order. For this reason, we are removing the 2-day Default Handling Time option, and all sellers who had 2-day as their default will be automatically switched to 1-day. However, to protect the account metrics for sellers that had set 2-day Default Handling Time, Amazon will update your SKU-Specific Handling Time on your behalf in the following ways:
For SKUs where you have historically taken more than 1-day to handle orders, and do not have a SKU level handling time set, Amazon will automatically set a 2-day SKU-Specific Handling Time, which will override your Default Handling Time.
For SKUs where you have historically taken 1-day or less to handle orders, and do not have a SKU level handling time set, Amazon will not assign a SKU-Specific Handling Time. Therefore, your updated Default Handling Time of 1-day will apply.
For SKUs that previously had a SKU-Specific Handling Time, there will be no changes applied.
Worried about this change?
Set an Order Handling Capacity to protect your business from surges of orders
Set SKU-specific Handling Time: Some sellers are confident that most of their SKUs can ship within 1 day, but have some products that may take longer. For these SKUs, you can set a longer handling time which will override your Default Handling Time specifically for that SKU. For more information, check Change handling time.
Note - If you also sell on the Canadian marketplace these handling time updates will also apply to the Canadian marketplace settings
Thank you,

Got this email too. Now I have to go and edit 130 listings. Thanks for the extra work. I had 2 days for a reason. If I wanted 1 day I would of set it to 1 day. I guess they got tired of us opting out and now are just forcing us all to 1 day.

We did also receive this email. It appears that the 2-day handling time will no longer be an option, and amazon will force everyone to use a 1-day handling time. Is this correct? They are now requiring that all FBM sellers treat standard orders with the same urgency of prime orders? How is this possible? Amazon certainly doesn't require non-prime orders to ship within 1 day from their own warehouses, why is this being forced on FBM sellers?

Makes sense for express and priority paid purchases, everything else customers aware to receive their purchases in 5-7 days.
Amazon has probably been wanting to do this for years, ...couldn't come up with a factual reason, so they made this 85% nonsense up. Amazon just desires sellers to sit at their computers 24/7, ship daily...and while I'm sure some do, the rest of us have lives.
Seller_UzXbyAwtHb1a5
Wait.. Did Amazon consider lowering their commissions to compensate sellers for the extra effort they are now asking for?
Sorry dear reader, I'm delusional.

We're FBM. Last I checked we all own our own businesses and don't work for Amazon. Looks like Amazon thinks otherwise and can set everyone's work schedule. Maybe we just choose to not jump thru hoops to have a 1 day handling time or don't ship every day of the week. 2 day default also helps keeps shipping & feedback scores high. I love the first thing they suggest if you're "worried about this change"? Just say you don't want orders... hint... hint...

Got the email and was able to change back to 2 day handling times. See how the 2 day handling will last.

I got this email too :( Thankfully, my handling time is sent over at the SKU level from the third-party inventory management app that I use, so I can control it from there.
If you need to set SKU level handling times because of this, an easy way to do it is with the Price & Quantity template.

RIGHT because the one thing that is going great, my on time shipping rate, now has to be "helped" by a stupid Amabot and "improved" by some ridiculous marketing person in an ivory tower who has never had to ship to Amazon customers in their life.
