I tried talking to Amazon through the chat yesterday but they did not help, also tried opening a case and I still haven’t received a response. So I’m hoping that here people may be able to help.
A buyer has requested a refund last week because they realised they placed the order incorrectly. I accepted the refund and they have sent the products back to me.
When I accepted the refund I explained that I will charge a 20% restocking fee as the order made was a large quantity and the products were made to order and also I had to pay for post to send the products to them.
Now that I have received the items back, I want to send them a refund but also want to charge the 20% restocking fee that I said I would when I accepted the refund.
My question is, how do I calculate the 20% restocking fee as the price is divided in product price and product tax (See attachment).
Also, I don’t understand the product tax, it is supposed to be 20% for VAT in the UK . But the numbers are incorrect. 20% of £47.40 is £9.48 , not £9.60.
If you could explain this to me that would be great.

Buyers can return items for a full refund for any reason, so you cannot charge a re-stocking fee to cover your costs and outbound postage - especially as your listing does not say these stickers are made-to-order. So you have to refund the buyer everything they paid = £57.00.
£9.60 is the correct VAT figure, as it is 20% of the total amount £57.00
