Please help - changed over to RM Click & Drop - is VTR still an issue for Royal Mail 2nd and 48?

I was using buy shipping, but because of issues with it lacking automation in selecting correct shipping services for premium shipping and international, amongst other reasons... we switched over everything back to Royal Mail Click & Drop instead. We use mostly Royal Mail 48 standard (untracked) for our large letters and parcels which only has a delivery scan. I understand if using buy shipping it's exempt from VTR, is this also the case for Click & Drop if the delivery scan number is imported into Amazon? I am going to be extremely annoyed and disappointed if this is still the case/if I have to switch back for an insane reason like this!

I heard they validate in the background, but can I really trust this?

I read the VTR policy again and it says:

"To calculate VTR, we take the total number of eligible seller-fulfilled shipments that you ship with a valid tracking ID in each category and divide it by the total number of shipments you shipped and confirmed over a 30-day period."

"Where do I find the parcel ID if I use Royal Mail 24 or Royal Mail 48?

If you use Royal Mail 24 or Royal Mail 48 to deliver your parcels, you must provide the unique parcel ID, located above the 2D barcode on the label."

It sounds like it might be okay now? not sure though...

I use RM48 for Amazon and have never had a problem with my VTR. All the unscanned items are validated by Amazon and I have never had a category suspension. I have been using RM48 for about 18 months now.

However others have pointed out that Amazon have recently removed from policy the statement saying that they will validate unscanned items. This used to be part of the policy but is now missing. Whether this is a change of policy (unannounced) or an oversight no one knows.

As far as I'm aware, there has never been a case of someone having categories suspended due to VTR when they were using Click and Drop to update Amazon with tracking information and shipping by CRL mail services.

We used to use RM24 (CRL) and had a glitch at one point that meant none of our delivery scans were being recorded. We went down to 0% at one point, and we were not suspended, as Amazon verified the parcel IDs in the background.

There are a lot of sellers who use RN24/48 through click and drop and have done so for years with no issues.

As much as we can say anything to do with Amazon is safe, we can say it's safe to use Click and Drop for RM48, have a below 95% VTR, and ignore the emails and notifications Amazon send about your low VTR.

If you have a collection with Royal Mail, please be aware they changed their T&C's last year so they are not responsible for the parcels they collect until they have been scanned at one of their depots.

Therefore, if they fail to scan they will not be responsible and upon making a claim, you will receive nothing in compensation.

Businesses wrongly assume that the manifest scan by the driver is sufficient, but it is not. Other couriers such as DPD scan parcels on site and they are responsible once collected by the driver, although their compensation package is appalling.

I've spoken to a more senior member of Royal Mail and they are not conveying these new terms to customers and have no intention of doing so.

Beware!
