New VAT Tax in Germany and France
Multiple calls to Amazon and zero help and zero way to get any information.
We are located in the US outside the EU and trying to find out how to handle the new tax laws in Germany and France.
Do we add 20% to our products now and Amazon will deduct the new tax on media at time of checkout?
Or is Amazon adding the tax to our product and shipping and showing a combined price to the buyer and Amazon will take the tax and pay the relevant country as they do with different states in the US?
Can someone help, cannot get an answer from seller support?
Thank you

I don’t think anything has changed for sellers based outside the EU. The changes that came in this year affect UK-based sellers selling to the EU, and vice versa, following Britain’s withdrawal from the EU
As far as I know, the VAT on books in France is only 5% and in Germany 7%, not 20%, so you clearly need to do more research and/or seek advice from an accountant who is familiar with exporting from the US to Europe

My understanding is that you add the VAT/tax as it is in your country, then Amazon “replace” that with the correct tax once the sale has occured based on destination country, but that’s for UK to EU FBM sales. Not sure if it also applies to US to EU.
