Amazon is responsible for collecting and remitting VAT directly to HMRC on Seller behalf.

Hello all.

I am a UK-based seller currently utilizing Amazon to sell my products exclusively within the UK.

I understand that as a marketplace facilitator, Amazon is responsible for collecting and remitting VAT directly to HMRC on my behalf.

To ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations and to maintain accurate financial records, I would like to clarify one point:

VAT Collection and Remittance:

Can someone confirm that Amazon collects the VAT at the point of sale and directly remits it to HMRC for all sales made through Amazon platform?

Is this applicable to all UK-based sellers who sell exclusively within the UK?

Many thanks

Amazon is not responsible for collecting and remitting UK VAT for UK sellers.

You have a VAT number on your account - you are responsible for your own VAT returns.
