Customer return/seller support nonsense

Thought I’d throw this out here for discussion.

I got an FBA order returned where the customer had removed the product and shipped back an empty box.

I raised a seller support case expecting them to reimburse me for the full amount of the order, but instead they applied an approximation.

I understand the need for approximations/algorithm generated product values when dealing with lost inventory where the might not know the actual value of an item, but not in a case where there was an order (and a healthy dose of fraud).

The order value was about £27, but only £20 was accounted for in the reimbursement.

Are we being taken for a ride? Are Amazon just facilitating customer returns fraud?

Let me get this right.

Amazon refunded an FBA item that was returned to them as an EMPTY box?

I know their checks when returns are checked are minimal but any poorly paid/demotivated memeber of staff can tell if a box is empty.

Regarding the reimbursement, without doing the maths, it sounds about right as the Amazon fees have been deducted and also, it does not include vat. If should equate to roughly what you would have received if the item was sold. Check the reimbursement policy for details.
