VTR and 2d tracking reference on Royal Mail
Hello,
Sorry if someone has already asked this, but there is so much on here about the new VTR rules, I haven’t been able to trawl through it all.
We buy our postage at the Post Office - mainly 2nd class Large Letters, and parcels.
We are now inputting the ‘tracking’ reference from the Post Office receipt when despatching, but it keeps saying invalid, and won’t let us press despatch.
If I keep the dashes/hyphens in the tracking reference Amazon accept it, so this is what I have been doing for the last few days.
However I read on here somewhere that we should not be inputting the hyphens.
Has anyone else got the same issue??
I have not looked at my VTR report, as I read that it is time lagged anyway, so I will not be able to see recent orders on it.
We used to use stamps/franking because of this issue before.
Any help much appreciated

I am sure I said this before to you on one of the other threads, but the price for sending small parcels over the counter at the PO is at least 50p more than buying from Amazon using Buy Shipping. (LL prices are the same).
I can understand you maybe wanting to support your PO so they are not lost, but personally these days every extra 50p paid soon adds up.
Yes, the report is retrospective - today’s is for items with a PDD of 25 Feb - 26 Mar - it is a rolling calculation, so tomorrow’s will be up to 27 March.

Hi @JillyB1
Thanks for the reply - we rarely post on here - but recently twice in the last 2 days , so maybe your previous advice was for someone else, but is much appreciated.
We, at the moment, are sticking with the Post Office, to support them, and also as we are a family business, and it is my mum who posts and I hope she won’t mind me saying, is well over 80, and the faff of printing the postage labels from Amazon will be an absolute pain for her.
We have a bricks and mortar shop as well, so Amazon is just an add on for us.
Do you have any clue about the tracking numbers though?
Any thoughts appreciated.
