VAT number
Hello,
I got an order from the Netherlands. On the order, there's a red message from Amazon that says I need a VAT number.
I have been looking on the internet as to how to obtain a VAT number and everything is really confusing. There are lots of companies offering to get for you such number for a fee, from really cheap to really expensive.
Can anyone else tell me how they got their VAT numbers. Is this something I can do it by myself?
I'm totally lost. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi @Seller_HjtMzbtk7NOje,
Thank you for reaching out with this question and for your patience here!
Please note that Amazon will collect VAT on the sales of goods delivered to B2C customers in the EU, ordered through any Amazon store, where:
- Goods are delivered from inventory stored outside the EU in a shipment with an intrinsic value of up to €150–this is referred to as the Import One Stop Shop; or
- Goods of any value are delivered from inventory stored in the EU where you, the seller, are not established in the EU.
In general, a VAT number is valid only when the business name registered for the VAT number matches your legal name in Seller Central. We can only accept a VAT number issued by the applicable tax authority.
For more information and guidelines on European VAT, I would recommend reading through these FAQs.
I hope this helps! If you have any additional questions, please let me know.
All the best,
Jameson
