Apple products restriction
Hi guys,
It’s been a while since we sold on Amazon, and we are just setting up all our products now.
We sell mobiles, and I am aware there are restrictions on selling Apple products.
I can’t seem to find the original notice Amazon put up explaining this, but I can see that it’s been quite heavily discussed on the forums. It also doesn’t allow us to list certain Apple products.
However, I have noticed some Apple products we are allowed to list. E.g B074P92JPF
What’s the situation here, are there some Apple products which are exempt from the restrictions, and are we allowed to list the aforementioned ASIN?
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,

Further to the above. I did reach out to Amazon with the same question as above and had the below response. Their response seems to indicate that I am able to sell this item on Amazon because the listing does not restrict me from doing so. I would be grateful if anyone could confirm this is correct though. We have only recently been reinstated so the last thing I want is to do anything which may affect our account.
Amazons response:
I understand that you want to know whether you are allowed to list and sale B074P92JPF? Let me help you with the information.
I would like to inform you that Amazon does not restrict any item or category to be sold in Amazon. But certain items or categories are restricted in Amazon. You can go ahead and try list your product B074P92JPF however if asked for approval then you need to send relevant documentation as asked and mentioned below.
Please follow the below steps to add your product and check if you are required to get approval to sell:
-
Select Add a Product from the Inventory drop-down, and search for the product you wish to sell on Amazon (search for a product identifier such as a UPC, EAN, JAN, or an ISBN).
Or use the link : https://sellercentral.amazon.com/productsearch/ref=xx_catadd_dnav_home -
If you locate the product you want to sell, perform these steps:
- Select the product
- Click on “Listing limitations apply”
( A ) If you see “Sell Yours”, you will be able to list the products without any approval required.
( B ) If you see “Request Approval” or “Apply to sell”, click on it and you will be asked to provide “Letter of authorization” or "purchase invoice for products from a manufacturer or distributor.
Further on your query whether there would be any effect on your account, please know that if you follow all the Amazon guidelines nd policy while creating listing there won’t be any impact on your account and make sure won’t be suspended at all. Please note that you don’t need to list product that is already restricted.

I believe this is to do with Brand Registry & Transparency. Many brands have now registered their brand name with Amazon and then the individual products with the Transparency programme. It allows the brand to control the listings and prices and also trace stock (any product registered with Transparency has a unique bar code). It’s an attempt to combat counterfeiting but also to control prices and stolen stock by making it difficult for people who are not registered distributors or resellers to list and sell on Amazon.
If you are an approved Apple reseller you will have to jump through the hoops to sell the restricted ASINS. We have had to do this with some of the brands we resell and on others, where we have acquired stock clearances etc. we have simply not been able to sell on Amazon.
