HAZMAT inability to sell or get product returned
I was selling a toy that included 2 cars in it which required batteries to work, I did not include the batteries. This toy has sold out now. But as well as the pack, I am trying to sell the cars separately. For some unknown reason the cars are being shown as inactive as they have a Hazmat issue apparently. The cars are not sold with batteries and I don’t have any connection with the manufacturer anymore as my contact has left them. Manufacturer is in China so not easy to re-establish a relationship. I’ve tried to tell Amz its not Hazmat but they want me to complete an SDS which I can’t as I bought the cars a year ago and my contact has gone now. I’ve even tried to create a removal order but they wont send it back to me as its hazmat. I’m stuck now paying storage fees for something they won’t sell or send back to me. The cars are sold by others so its clearly safe. Does anyone have any advice?

Sorry this doesn’t help but I couldn’t help but say “oh Amazon, such a classic”.
Amazon are the GLOBAL CHAMPIONS of setting the rules in opposition so that they trap sellers in an inescapable circle until they give up.
I would hazard a guess that this system accounts for a large proportion of their income, which would otherwise be returned to sellers.
They make me sick. To clarify, this is not my company and I will not be here much longer. Every piece of Amazon domination that hits me, and that’s multiple times daily, chips away a little piece of my soul.
I have to leave before there is nothing left but an empty shell of a once (stupid but) morally guided human.
I’m sory sorry for hijacking your thread with that rant. Let me see if I can add something positive.
Uhm. Huh.
Seems to me you need to convince them they are not hazmat. Sounds like it needs the human touch. Amazon Bots are going “battery car. Battery = hazmat. Hazmat = NO”.
Somehow you need to get past that.
Seller support is the first place to start, open a case as urgent and requiring urgent attention. When you speak to someone at Amazon ask to be put through to a “Captive Site” as this is a little trick that might get you through to someone with actual power, or they might just say no.
OTher alternatives are to go above SS, and email jeff@amazon.com although that just goes to a different team, not jeff himself obvs.
Other than that, I’m down with an entirely hypothetical raid on an Amazon warehouse. It would be fun to imagine.

If the cars don’t have batteries included (and they don’t have any other potential Hazmat issues), then you shouldn’t need any more information from the supplier. You can fill in an MSDS exemption sheet, which basically just has checkboxes to confirm that it doesn’t include batteries. I don’t have a link to one from here, but if you try and add the product to a shipment then i think it gives you the option to download one and submit it.

Another option, depending on the cost factor of the stock involved, would be to request disposal?
Would they allow that even if they won’t allow a removal order?
