OTP workaround?

I was away on a cruise a few weeks ago. I had an internet package from the ship but whenever I tried to login to Amazon to check for any customer emails that needed answering Amazon sent me an OTP, or at least they tried to. Because I had no mobile service I couldn’t receive it. When we arrived in Norway and I got service, all the codes came through, I logged in and had two messages waiting both of which were over 48 hours so I got a telling off from Amazon about it.

We’ve just booked another cruise for next year and this time it’s transatlantic with 5 sea days with no mobile service. Is there a way around this wretched OTP? Amazon seemed to know I was away and they were sending me one every time I logged in.

You could download an authenticator app

You shouldn’t be penalised for not answering messages - it’s not a metric - only a recommendation

Plus, you can answer buyer messages direct from your email its sent to

I’ve been having this issue for the last 3 days. It doesn’t send me OTP and yet it says I should wait a min before request another one - It fix it self out of blue - I think I had this pretty much twice a day now.

Thanks for that guys - some useful suggestions there. I think I’ll try the email autoresponder route.

Oh come on !!! You know you should be chained to your account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When were holidays ever allowed to be taken?? :joy::rofl::laughing:

Seriously though, whoever invented OTP should have been deposited on a desert island with only Mr. Blobby for company. It is the most annoying system ever created because it never works properly. We are 100% FBA so pay Amazon for customer service but we still have to be able to respond to any customer queries sent directly to us within the specified time. Like you, whenever I go on holiday, I always have to ensure I have internet access or a good phone signal (that rules out most of the UK, of course):astonished:
