Onboarding support

Back in January 2021 I was emailed by an ‘Onboarding Specialist’ / Amazon EU, who told me they had been appointed as my Account Manager, and to help me get started and set up with FBA.

FINALLY! I thought - some assistance finding my way through the minefield of conditions to get a live listing set up.

After a few emails back and forth, the replies stopped coming. I waited a while and tried again - still no replies. So I’m back to square one. I don’t think this person has left Amazon, because they still have a function to schedule a call. I tried this twice, and they failed to call both times. Even if they did leave, the emails would either bounce back or be forwarded to someone else, right?

Has anyone else had this experience? Are there really Onboarding Specialists available, and if yes, how do I get one?

Support told me it’s not their department and just sent me links to FAQ pages, which are of no help whatsoever. (standard operating procedure for Amazon)

WHY would someone come forward with an offer of Account Management support, then just disappear and fail to reply?

It pretty sums up Amazon’s approach, ime.

Any suggestions out there? I’m finding it absolutely impossible to get started.

Thanks!

Hi,

I had a similar issue when I first started out in Amazon. I was assigned a relationship manager and they also had an online diary/booking system. I proceeded to make two appointments in her calendar and was stood up on both occasions!!!

Through sheer perseverance i finally ended up having a meeting, and to be honest it was hardly worth it. We may think that they’ll know all of the answers, however they are a very small cog in a ginormous piece of machinery. They also have hardly any back channels into other teams, because so much support is automated on Amazon.

Good news though is that you are in the right place to increase your knowledge of how to make Amazon work for you. Seller university is the best place to start though.

And on the forums there are a handful of people that are the bees knees when it comes to all things Amazon. And if you read the forums as often as I do, you’ll honestly see that there isn’t much that they don’t know between them.

Best of luck on your Amazon journey.

PS…don’t make the mistake I made and buy stock before finding out how things actually work on here…lol

If you had someone contact you about Onboarding, then it is extremely likely, that the contact was about SFP. They are not Account managers, even if they bill themselves as such, but simply sales people!
So you may get an initial bit of help about a problem, but more than that, then they are not interested.

The only option (if it’s still available), for having an account manager is to pay Amazon for the privilege.

And that is why they have stopped answering you.

When all else fails, read the manual. It’s called Seller University and you’ll find a link to it on your seller account page
