How much should I refund for this return?
Sold a large unit to someone in the UK, customer opened a returns request saying ti was defective.
Because it was a large and expensive item I phoned them to find out the problem.
Phone convo : First they said 2 drawers were stuck and then they said to be honest I just want to get the item returned as I don’t like it, so I said I would get a collection booked and get it returned, which I have done.
Got the item back and obviously no defects what so ever, it’s a piece of furniture, a drawer unit so wasn’t likely to be anything wrong with it. Plus all items are checked before we send them out anyway.
What I want to know, is how much do I refund?
Do I refund the full amount?
Or do I refund the full amount less the cost of the return?
Or other.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, I look forward to any replies.

THe problem is the return request was opened as defective which makes you responsible for the return costs, them admitting it was a remorse buy on the phone will not hold weight with Amazon as the conversation was not in their network.

Yep… It’s a change of mind return so you can deduct the cost of the return

Deduct the full cost of the return collection. Think of it as helping other sellers by educating this buyer as to what they are entitled to.
(unless your account is already in a precarious position re metrics)
