Huge overnight drop in rank
Good morning from the UK.
I have nothing but trouble with one of my ASINs since September ‘22, mainly with organic rank being all over the place and this morning it’s happened again.
This ASIN has been moved from somewhere between position 3 and 5 where i worked hard to get to 23 overnight. Of course when i contact Seller Central they just give me a generic ‘well thats because everyone else has been selling more than you’ answer, but you only have to glance at the other ASINs to know that isn’t the case and regardless, it would cause an instant drop like this.
I’ve noticed this sometimes happens moments after i make a price adjustment.
Has anyone else experienced this? I’m moment away from jacking it all in if I’m honest. It’s hard not to get stressed when it’s completely out of your control.

Guessing you increased the price?
If so, it’s natural that you increasing your price will benefit your competitors who didn’t. I would expect to have your sales rank fall in that case. It’s hard for any of us to say how much a sales rank should vary, as it’s going to differ massively by department, time of year, economic climate, maybe even time of month due to pay day.
I get that you’ve worked hard and I’m not trying to take that away from you, but do you think your competitors haven’t been working hard as well?
Far more of business success comes down to luck than people are willing to face. Ultimately, no matter the marketplace, there will always be things out of your control. I really would stick with it, especially since you’ve seen that your product can get to that high a rank already.

I wish it was that simple. I dropped the price by £2 and it dropped approximately 20 positions instantly. It was in relation to sales velocity, seemed like a glitch to me.

I’ve had this particularly asin up and running for 12 months and I’ve noticed rank move by a position or two between me and competitors, but a drop like that immediately after a price change seem like a remarkable coincidence to me.

Ok so for anyone who’s interested, I changed the price back and the listing immediately shot back up to where it was in position 5

check the product category to see if it has been changed. I have had listings drop ranking dramatically and found that some bot decided the product should belong to a different category and it then proceeds to change the category which can effect the ranking.
