Customer trying it on

a bit random but have had a very aggressive customer demanding a refund - not a problem as the value is low however I do feel their impatience is telling and something not right - the addess is number 80 - she literally gets her order delivered within 24 hours - really fast we normally say 3 days - anyway she says the tracking says delivered but she has not received then starts giving me too much information like I have never had this before where a parcel does not arrive - I contact the courier and the courier provides an image of the parcel being handed over - I sent her the image and she gets very defensive and starts bombarding me with images of her front door which is different to the image I have - I then noticed the image she has sent of the correct door is number 82 and not number 80 whcih is the address she has provided - I said the couriers will need a few days to look into - she absolutely explodes - not had this with a customer before and basically demands a refund - I then get an email from Amazon telling me to refund her. So her address is number 80 - she shows me her door way which clearly says number 82 - I feel I am being played - yes we will refund to avoid the hassle but it annoys me that Amazon will not look at the facts and actively encourge this bad behaviour. Any thoughts on how to handle or is it best to let it just go…

If your account can take the a-z , I’d let it go to that
Usually if they know the system, they’d go straight to it - unless they already have done many times and are worried about being flagged
Tell her that it went to number 80 - as per her order and if she lives at number 82 , she needs to pop next door and get it

Have you checked yourself on Google ?

Did you buy shipping through amazon ?

If you purchased shipping through buy shipping even if they went to a-z and lost you won’t have a defect.

But stand your ground. More sellers need to do this otherwise they will do it to the next seller and so on.

This sounds to me like the Buyer has realised they screwed up so is coming in hard to try and make out like they’re the one being hard done by. In my experience, people complain harder and more aggressively when they know they’re in the wrong because they know they have no rational argument to make but aren’t willing to accept the consequences of their own mistakes.

If she put number 80, but lives at number 82, then this is simply her fault - Trying it on or not, she entered the wrong address.

On occasion we have asked if the customer is willing to provide a Police statement in regards to courier theft.

Amazingly 99% of the time the cases just disappear…

Well in that case, to cover yourself, just say its been delivered to your next door neighbour at number 80…

It’s not exactly valid for this post as you know she’s next door do to the parcel.

However, I had a customer clearly try to play the system in an identical way a couple of years ago. They sent me an image of their front door - which I suspected was from Google Maps.
I logged on and sure enough they were correct their door was a different colour.

But here’s the trick… move around. Back up, go forwards and even higher off the ground. As you do you’ll see the dates of the photo change and also the image. You can literally see a skip and a sold sign from one perspective and then a newly renovated house with a new driveway on the next - 20 yards away.

Doing this I noticed he’d had new windows and with it a new front door but still had the same car with the same stickers in the window. I presented this to him and he suddently fell silent.

Obviously it won’t always work but if you try it on your own house or warehouse you’ll most likley see several different moments in time, which may help.

You could ask her to move to number 82. Problem solved. Probably a nicer house?

Go to google maps and look at her front door. I had a customer do similar the delivery pic was a white door and she said she had a black one, quick google search and a message telling her what I had found and I never heard from them again.

Another typical example where A stick by the purchaser even when the evidence proves otherwise. We the sellers get shafted all the time and A hide behind thier big corporate image reaping in thier over inflated charges. Makes the blood boils I know but basically you are going to have to suck it up and get on by either coming off A altogether or inflating your prices to cover these eventualities just like insurance companies do with your house and car insurance!!!
