MFN Regional Shipping Policy Change
HI Folks, Please excuse if I’m being totally stooopid here. Either I am or I’ve at least missed something.
The other day I received, as I assume you all did, and email titled
“MFN Shipping Policy Change: Differentiate your shipping fees by region”
in my understanding it went on to explain that we can all now finally differentiate our shipping charges for UK mainland std addresses and those that are more remote and costly to ship to. Such as the Channel Isles, Highlands etc.
Great news, and long overdue!
However, I get an error mesage stating all regions should be the same - i.e. NOTHING has changed after all.
I opened an SS case and provided screenshots etc and full detail and got a swift reply stating that my error was due to “both Scotland regions needing to show the smae price”.
Isn’t this the contrary of the new policy?
I currently ship everything FREE ShIpping and take a huge hit if someone orders from Guernsey (as a regular example), again as I’m sure you all do also. SS are saying that my “Scotland(Dumfries, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kilmarnock, Motherwell), England, Wales” price (FREE) should be the same as my “Scotland(Aberdeen, Dundee, Falkirk, Outer Hebrides, Inverness, Kirkwall, Kirkaldy, Paisley, Perth, Galashiels, Shetland Islands), Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Man”.
Apologies for the long message - any help is greatly appreciated.
Paul

to me
Hello from Amazon Services,
We have listened to feedback that shipping to some locations in the UK can be more expensive than others. To help support your business, we have updated our standard shipping template so you can differentiate your shipping fees by region, if you choose to do so. This change applies to merchant-fulfilled orders only; Prime (FBA and Seller Fulfilled Prime) offers will continue to provide free delivery throughout the UK.
Which regions are included in this change?
Regional shipping applies to addresses in Inverness (incl. Scottish Highlands) and offshore locations (Shetland Islands, Outer Hebrides, Kirkwall, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. You can choose to set different fees (if any) for any of these regions but you are still required to ship to all addresses within the UK.
Remember, delivery is one of the most important parts of the e-commerce experience. A report by Temando (July 2017) suggests that 86% of UK shoppers prefer free over fast delivery. Remember also that customers love low prices. To keep fees low for customers, you can extend transit time through the shipping template settings.
All addresses within England, Wales and Scotland (excluding the regions detailed above) must be charged the same shipping fee (if any).
How can I update my shipping template?
If you are receiving this email, your account has already been migrated to the new template and you can make changes to your shipping fees through Seller Central via Settings > Shipping Settings.
The following actions are examples of seller behaviour that are not permitted:
• Refusing delivery or cancelling orders to certain regions.
• Using product description bullet points to refuse delivery to certain regions or request that customers in certain regions choose ‘express delivery’ in order to collect additional shipping fees.
• Contacting customers to request additional shipping fees after the order has been placed.
