Trying to understand Amazon fees and reconcilliation

You will probably be able to tell from the questions i have asked that I am not an expert amazon seller. My aim is to get all the accounting and admin side correct before I expand (hopefully) to increase the income. So apologies if any of my questions appear ‘stupid’!

I am currently doing my monthly reconciliation and have started to realise that it is a lot more in depth than simply, I have sold this, I pay this and the sum at the end is my profit. Luckily, or unluckily for me, I have been inputting everything in the tax mans favour :smirk:

Anyhow, am I correct in thinking that all Amazon fees are taken from our fees before they are disbursed. So the amounts from Amazon, that enter my account do not have any additional payment to Amazon. The reason I think this is correct is because, other than the disbursements into my account, there are no payments out of my account for Amazon. Have I understood this correctly?

Thank you kindly.

yes although obviously if you have any fees such as professional selling plan fee or advertising and you don’t have enough funds in your amazon account, they will charge your card

you need to download from- reports - payments - date range reports - generate report - change to summary and enter the dates

this gives a full breakdown of income and itemised expenditure

and get an accountant ! they’ll save you more than they cost if they are any good !
